Young woman, 21, denies lying about sexual assault

Mia Irvine, of Devizes, Wiltshire, appeared at Oxford Crown Court on Thursday (March 13) for her plea hearing.

During the hearing, the 21-year-old denied one count each of inflicting grievous bodily harm, criminal damage and doing acts tending and intended to pervert the course of public justice – allegedly telling the police she had been sexually assaulted.

It was heard that the incidents allegedly happened on December 29, 2022.

The case has now been adjourned so preparations can take place for a trial hearing.

Her trial is now due to take place at the same court on August 17, 2026.
